Over the past few weeks and months, Mercedes Benz have been giving us glimpses to what the new S-Class will look like. However, this leaked photo shows us what the next S-Class will very likely look like. An official reveal should be approaching soon, make sure to come back for more details.
The Geneva Motor Show closed its doors yesterday, and like many who end up going to car shows, SOC has prepared a wish list if ever one was to win the lottery. Do you have a wish list of your own? Go ahead and share it in the comments section. Written by Alex Kisiri
With 2012 just days away from ending, we can only hope that 2013 will have as many exciting new cars as this year did. Here is a gallery of 22 cars that made a good first impression. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
A concept car and an open-top supercar are this week’s standout cars, coming in the form of a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster and the Mercedes Benz Ener-G-Force concept car.
One of the most anticipated cars from Mercedes Benz AMG has finally shown itself, the SLS AMG Coupe Black Series.
The SLS AMG Coupe Black Series is now the ultimate car AMG has to offer, coming armed with a high-revving 6.2-litre V8 producing 631hp at 7,400 rpm and 635Nm (468 lb ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. Thanks to its new high-revving nature, the Black Series produces slightly less torque than in the standard SLS. However, acceleration from 0-100km/h is faster, getting there in 3.6 seconds and maxing out at 315km/h. The 2012 Paris Motor Show is currently the place to be if you want you to see how exciting the future of motoring is going to be. You have the usual mix of concept cars, new car debuts, etc. But after looking at what the show has to offer, SOC has come up with a list of cars that stand out more than others.
The Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake has been officially revealed, and it looks set to carry on with the AMG V8 madness. As with most of the AMG range these days, it comes with the twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 producing 525hp and 700 Nm (516 lb/ft) of torque, while customers opting for the Edition 1 package get 557hp and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque. Acceleration times from 0-62mph are 4.4 and 4.3 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 155mph. McLaren MP4-12C SpiderThis is without question the Ferrari 458 Spider’s arch rival, and with 625hp it is 55hp more powerful than the Italian drop-top.
The McLaren MP4-12C Spider also comes with a retractable hard top, and may be operated at speeds of up to 30km/h (19mph). The twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine sends its power and 600 Nm of torque through a seven-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission, enabling the 1,474kg (DIN weight) Spider to get from 0-62mph in 3.1 sec (the same as the 12C coupe) and reach a top speed of 204mph (329km/h) – 3mph less than its coupe sibling. The 1990s will be remembered for many things; Nelson Mandela got out of prison, Tupac and Notorious BIG shot, boy bands, the bowl haircut, OJ Simpson in the Bronco, etc. But there’s also the W140 Mercedes Benz S-Class, probably one of the best Mercedes Benzes ever made.
Having driven a 1997 S300 TD on several occasions, the first thing that strikes you is how long the car actually is – 5,113mm in length. The second thing you will notice is how light the steering is, it is easily one of the most effortless systems to use. You don’t get much in the way of detailed feedback though, but that’s irrelevant in a car like this. Instead you appreciate the fact that the response to steering input is more than acceptable, and that the ride quality is superior to many modern big saloons. Mini Roadster The new Mini Roadster is now the sixth model in the Mini line-up. The Roadster is designed as a strict two-seater, rather than a four-seater like the Convertible – it's available as either a Cooper Roadster, Cooper S Roadster, Cooper SD Roadster, or John Cooper Works Roadster.
The Roadster makes use of BMW-sourced petrol and diesel engines, ranging from a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 122hp to turbocharged versions producing 184hp and 211hp. The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the Cooper SD Roadster produces 143hp. |
